FAQs
DURING COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS HOW WILL WE MEET?
While COVID restrictions can be challenging, individual and couples counseling can still be done very successfully through telehealth platforms. I conduct most of my sessions online through a HIPPA compliant online video service (like Zoom) called Doxy from my office. If there are technology barriers, we can also meet via phone. Once it is safe to do so, I will return to in-person sessions as well. Thank you for understanding and I hope you stay safe and well during this difficult time.
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?
After a 20-minute complimentary session to discuss your needs and the therapy process, I offer 60-minute sessions for $130 and 90-minute sessions for $190.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept payment at the time of service through cash, check, PayPal or Venmo. I do not accept insurance at this time.
DO YOU SHARE MY INFORMATION WITH OTHERS?
Your treatment is absolutely confidential. I will never share any information about our relationship and what we discuss without your prior written consent. There are some state-required exceptions which are rare and mainly related to immediate risk for suicide and homicide or in cases of suspected abuse.
HOW LONG IS A COUNSELING SESSION AND HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?
Counseling sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes to allow us enough time to explore the topics you care about. The number of sessions we will have depends on several factors, including the issues we are addressing and readiness for change, but typically I see clients 8-10 times over the course of 4-6 months. In other situations, some clients prefer a more consistent ongoing relationship. We can discuss this more when we first meet and then review on an ongoing basis to ensure our meeting cadence provides you the most benefits.
WHAT DO I DO TO GET STARTED?
Choosing a therapist that you are comfortable with is important, so I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone conversation to discuss your reasons for seeking counseling and answer any questions you may have about the therapy process. Once we agree on a plan forward, we will schedule our first appointment and I’ll ask you to complete an intake form.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL A SESSION?
I understand that conflicts can arise after we schedule a session. If a cancellation or change is required with more than 24 hours notice, you can cancel or reschedule the appointment. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice or fail to show up, you will be charged for the appointment.
